CANCELLING OF THE 18TH EDITION OF THE VALLEYFIELD TRIATHLON
The Valleyfield Triathlon organization has made the difficult decision not to present its 18th edition, which was scheduled for August 15 and 16. Triathlon Valleyfield has postponed its sporting event until next year because of the security risk for athletes, volunteers, spectators, and staff.
“ More than 2,000 people, including athletes, spectators and volunteers, were expected to attend this year’s event at Delpha-Sauvé Park. Considering the evolution of the situation, we would have had to present a very reduced version of the event to respect the recommended physical distance measures, explained Brigitte Asselin, president of Triathlon Valleyfield. Therefore, we chose to focus our efforts on next year’s edition.”
At the very beginning of the pandemic, the executive committee of the Valleyfield Triathlon, following the measures put in place by the government, was forced to cancel the 7th edition of the Beauharnois-Salaberry School Triathlon, which was scheduled to take place on June 16. The Youth Triathlon Camps planned for May and July are also cancelled.
